At BestStart South Road Preschool we recognise the value of involving whānau in our daily programme, as tamariki can learn so much from the demonstration and sharing of their various strengths.

We have often baked bread together, using yeast to make it rise, and scones, using baking powder as a raising agent.

To further learning about different cultural ways of baking staple foods like bread and scones, we asked one of our whanau, if he would come to share his talent of making fried bread with us.

We are so grateful to him for being so willing to show us how to make it...and for sharing with us the yummy end. What an awesome experience for our children to learn from.
