Making Japanese Sushi
We asked one of our Japanese parents if she could please come in and teach the children how to make traditional Japanese Sushi. She took us through step by step, from the rice to the vegetables to the tuna and then to try and roll it up. The children had so much fun, and loved being able to make and then eat their own sushi with what they wanted in it. It was a bit tricky to roll the sushi up tight so the parent had to help most of the children to get it tight enough so their filling didn't fall out. But all in all the children had an amazing time and loved learning to make Sushi.
They learnt about food and nutrition, and about another culture's food, quite a few of the children had already brought sushi from the mall as they were all sharing their experiences with Sushi, but to be able to make their own was a new experience for most.
