We ensure we have sensory play available every day and today the children have decided to make their own potions.

They have used bark, leaves, water, green dye, dishwashing liquid and glitter.

All the children are using their exploration skills to explore what will happen if they mix all the materials to the water.

They are learning how to pour with a jug, transfer with a spoon and stir. This activity is developing children fine motor skills, hand eye coordination and hand muscles.

Children have been having meaningful discussions on what they are doing and what they can see in the water.   We used so many describing words; stirring slowly, stirring quickly, shiny, bubbly, lumpy, sparkly.   All of the steps such as taking part in preparing the activity, taking turns and cleaning up afterwards help to establish a sense of responsibility and being part of our community.
