Manaakitanga at BestStart Seymour Road Kindy
Manaakitanga is a core value for Beststart Seymour Road Kindy. We take extreme pride in the way our tamariki demonstrate manaakitanga in terms of helping one another, looking after each other, welcoming their new friends and easing their settling, scaffolding each other’s learning, and exploring together.
Our biggest strength is the positive, supportive, and inclusive environment where tuākana/tēina and respectful relationships and warmth are widely visible. This provides our tuakana with the opportunities to develop leadership and responsibility skills while providing our teina with gaining a sense of mana whenua, and an easy settling process with support around Centre routines and expectations.
We strive to support our tamariki to develop learning-focused relationships that enable them to be active participants in the process of learning, shared ownership, and responsibility for their own learning and the learning of their peers. Tamariki is empowered to work in collaboration, communicate effectively, support one another's interests, and use inquiry as a learning tool to support growth and development alongside their peers.
We promote an environment that embraces cultural diversity and recognizes the unique status of tangata whenua in Aotearoa New Zealand. Tamariki is empowered by embracing the importance of relationships and the holistic approach to learning.
