At Mangere East we are passionate about community engagement and allowing our tamariki to explore our local community. During our latest excursion to Mangere Art Centre our tamariki were fortunate enough to engage in an cultural experience during Samoan language week.

Community engagement is so important for our tamariki as they grow in the community environment and begin to understand their wider society. It helps them to learn about themselves. It helps them learn how to tackle challenges, build knowledge, and thrive.

Being part of the soaman language week also helped our tamariki understand the diverse cultures in new zealand and allowing our tamariki to feel a sense of belonging through The identities, languages, and cultures of Pasifika children by acknowledging the interconnectedness of people, place, time, and things.
