At BestStart Hei Hei, we strive to create an environment of “Taonga Tuku Iho”, where we acknowledge and celebrate all the treasures (knowledge, language, culture, whakapapa) that have been passed down through generations to our precious children.

The month of March has been quiet an eventful month with the nursery tamariki being engaged in a variety of blue and green themed activities to celebrate the Plunket Appeal Week and Saint Patrick's Day. The tamariki loved being involved in different art themed activities where they unleashed their creativity.

In addition to this, the nursery tamariki celebrated Holi- the festival of colours and love. The tamariki loved experiencing an array of different colours in the sensory trough. Through this experience, the tamariki got to work on their fine motor skills by using their palms and fingers to apply the colours on their peers as well as kaiako. They got to experience the powdery texture of the holi colours and how does it feel on their skin.

Holi helps to bring people together and strengthening the bonds. Through this celebration, the nursery tamariki loved learning and having fun alongside each other which promoted a strong sense of collaboration and contribution among them. What a fun filled month!
