Matariki - Maori New Year 2021
BestStart Glen Eden celebrated the Maori New Year, Matariki, with a fantastic whanau (family) event.
We shared kai together, which shows manaakitanga (caring for each other and providing hospitality) and spent time getting to know each other to build whanaungatanga (relationship).
Tamariki (children ) performed a poi dance for the parents and guests. It is wonderful to see the sense of belonging that our tamariki feel to our centre and their self-confidence in their performance skills The evening was finished with a disco – plenty of active movement, connecting with new friends and having fun!
