Matariki 2022
Here at BestStart Kelvin Street, we have been busy this month celebrating Matariki - the Māori New Year.
Tamariki have been learning all about the star cluster, making their own displays and working together as a team to create some beautiful whetu - stars!
Tamariki also celebrated the holiday through waiata | songs, glow sticks, toy day, PJ Day, making sand art of Māori patterns and symbols and also enjoying storytelling of the legend that is Matariki. On our final day, we enjoyed dressing up in sparkly blue and white clothes and sharing kai | food at lunch.
It was wonderful to spend time together creating, celebrating and reflecting on the Māori Year that is passed, and we look forward to the New Year ahead.
