Celebrating special events is very important to use here at BestStart Riccarton, we not only love learning about different celebrations but here at BestStart Riccarton we love sharing special moments / celebrations that are important to our whānau. For Matariki this year the children had an opportunity to learn about Matriki, through art, music and stories. Kaiako also offered different learning platforms such as baking. Even our youngest children took part in different experiences. The kaiako / teachers within the Harakeke / Toddler room offered different experiences such as sensory experiences in where the children were able to explore the Matariki whetu (stars) alongside their peers. And of course with any celebration and the importance of sharing kai for Matariki we hosted a whānau parent evening where the tamariki shared waita they had learnt and also whānau could join in different activities such as painting whetu (stars) with their child. And of course the bit the children loved most was sharing kai with their whānau. We felt very blessed as our whānau bought kai from their homes to share with us. If you would love to see some of the other amazing mahi the children took part in for Matariki, pop on into BestStart Riccarton, we would love to show you and your child around.
