Matariki Celebration at BestStart Jones Crescent Kindy
What a fantastic Matariki celebration we had. Our event was very special for our Whanau, as it was combined with our Matariki celebration and one of our friends’ graduations together. All of our whanau were welcome not only to join in the Matariki celebration but also to attend this special graduation ceremony.
As we were singing “Te Aroha, Te Whakapono, Me terangimarie…” together during the graduation ceremony, we were sending our love and best wish to our friend who graduated from this special day. We wished him to have a great chapter at school next week. After our friend’s graduation, it was time for our Tamariki to have fun and rock and roll. Since some of our Whanau just moved to New Zealand, we began the celebration by introducing the meaning of Matariki and many of our Whanau have shown a big interest in it. In particular, when our Tamariki were able to share their great knowledge regarding Matariki with their family at mat time, we can see how proud their whanau were of them.
Kapai, my beautiful friends! Following was our performance part. “ Waiti, Waita, Waipunarangi…” we watched our Tamariki’s amazing performance, they were really stars of today! We all have been really enjoying today’s celebration and already looking forwards to Matariki in the coming year.
