For the past seven weeks, our tamariki have been on an incredible Matariki adventure, exploring each of the seven stars and discovering the stories, values and connections they hold.
Through art, storytelling, nature experiences, kai and meaningful conversations, our learning journey has helped us deepen our understanding of this special time of year.
All that learning came together in one unforgettable evening as we celebrated Matariki with our whaanau. Home of the Brave was buzzing with excitement as whaanau arrived ready to explore, play and connect. Interactive activities inspired by the Matariki stars invited everyone to join in the fun, while our Matariki Kahoot quiz had whaanau racing to test their knowledge for a chance to win some awesome prizes.
There was plenty of laughter, a little healthy competition, and lots of celebration along the way! Of course, no Matariki celebration would be complete without delicious kai. Our incredible Tamariki took great pride in helping prepare and support a feast of hearty boil-up and hangi. Sharing food together provided the perfect opportunity to slow down, connect and reflect on the journey we had taken over the previous seven weeks.
As the sun disappeared and the evening settled in, everyone gathered around the fire. With marshmallows roasting, tamariki giggling, and conversations flowing, it was the perfect way to end a magical night. There is something special about sitting together around a fire that reminds us what Matariki is all about, celebrating connection, honouring the past, and looking forward to the future with hope. A huge thank you to all the whaanau who joined us and helped make the evening such a success.
Seeing our tamariki confidently share their learning and our community come together in celebration was truly the highlight of the season. What started as seven weeks of learning ended as a night full of stars, stories, laughter, kai and connection.
