BestStart Powells Road Kindy

At BestStart Powells Road Kindy, tamariki and whaanau are at the heart of everything we do.

Affectionately known as "The Home of the Brave", we are a mixed-age, whaanau-focused Kindy who nurtures each tamaiti as an individual to support their independence, sense of belonging, and unique cultural identity through strong relationships and a warm, inclusive environment.

Our bi-cultural curriculum is inspired and guided by atua Maaori and supports tamariki through play-based learning aligned with the New Zealand school curriculum. We foster strong connections with families, tamariki and local schools to reinforce strong school connections and smooth transitions.

Our centre cook provides fresh, healthy meals each day and our "Set for School" programme provides an enriched, purposeful environment where our older tamariki come together as a group — stepping away from their teina to build early literacy and numeracy understanding, develop independence, strengthen social confidence, and practise self-help skills.
