We shared a special evening with our tamariki and wider whānau as we celebrated the magical time of Matariki, the Māori New Year.  Our toddlers and preschoolers created a beautiful space making a night sky with a ladder of themselves up to the stars, they made clay stars and they decorated the room with twinkly lights making the room look amazing.

Throughout the day we made soup and bread for our shared kai. The children put on a little concert singing Ma is White, the Matariki Macarena and Twinkle Twinkle and then followed off with a disco. The evening was a great way for all our families to meet and connect with one another and to discuss their aspirations for their children. For our community, Matariki is a time for learning, but also celebration and togetherness.
