To celebrate Matariki we had a special whanau Matariki evening. To start off the evening the tamariki sang a concert where they had learnt the New Zealand National Anthem, "Matariki 9 Stars", "Tutira Mai Nga Iwi" (including actions) and "Tirama Tirama Matariki". The tamariki had been working hard on learning these songs and sang them so well for their whanau! After this we had shared kai where everyone brought some delicious food to share, and then we had our "search for the stars" Matariki art gallery. For something a little bit different we did this in the dark and the tamariki brought their torches along. They all really enjoyed looking for the special Matariki themed art work in the dark!
