Lately in the Infants classroom, we have been doing lots of different artwork to celebrate Matariki. Matariki is the Maori new year and is a time of harvest and festivities. We have been decorating lots of stars, which are displayed on our walls. Please come in and have a look at our tamariki’s AMAZING artwork.

Our favourite part of decorating was when we painted and then added lots of glitter onto our stars! We used gold and purple glitter, specially chosen by one of our wonderful infants. Adding the glitter onto the stars made all of the tamariki giggle and smile.

It’s very rewarding for the tamariki to see their artwork displayed on the wall. I have been hearing lots of infants saying different things, for example “Oooh stars” or start singing twinkle twinkle little star. Ka pai to our tamariki for decorating beautiful stars to celebrate Matariki.
