On 23rd June 2023, we went on a trip to Tupu Youth Library to celebrate Matariki by exploring Matariki stories. We had over 50 children alongside 15 adults joining this excursion. Two buses from Ritchies Murphy company took us to Tupu Youth Library where we enjoyed a variety of waiata including Matariki and Waiti waita. We have also enjoyed watching and listening to the Matariki story which is about the journey of finding Matariki stars.

All our tamarikima were so excited to go on the bus and were so engrossed in listening to the stories and the Waiata while at the Library. It is amazing to see how concentrated they were. As Matariki is approaching, It is a great opportunity for all of us to embrace cultural diversity through exploring stories, and the waiata, understanding the meaning and legend behind Matariki, and embracing Maori values and beliefs in our daily life. It is a great and successful trip.

We have received great support from our Whanau. Without the support from our whanau, this trip won't happen. We would like to say a big thank you to all our parent helpers for supporting us to make this event successful.
