Introducing Leonora! Leonora was born in the Phillippines and moved to New Zealand with her whanau in 2009. She comes to us with a background of Commerce and Science and joined our Herewini Street family in 2018. For over a decade now, Leonora has been building confident learners and communicators, at BestStart and relishes in the relationships she shares with our tamariki.
Ko Waimarie toku ingoa! Wai was born and bred in Rotorua and spent 10 years in Australia where she studied her Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education and Care. She's an experienced room leader and currently runs our room in Nga Pakeke. Wai joined our BestStart whanau in 2023 and aims to gain her BtchLn in the new year. She is passionate about Early Learning and believes every child deserves to be in a nurturing and inspiring environment.
Meet Anthea! Spanning over 30 years, Anthea has a strong background in education as a nanny, teacher aid, and early childhood educator. Anthea has just completed her Teacher Education Refresh Programme. She has a passion for supporting tamariki with diverse learning needs, and loves to watch them flourish and grow on their individual learning journeys. Anthea has two adult children and can often be found enjoying the great outdoors when she isn't inspiring the tamariki at Herewini Street.
Sarah hails from Salisbury, in the United Kingdom, and has a background in dental hygiene and publishing. Sarah credits her daughter's years at kindy with inspiring her to become the passionate Early Childhood Educator she is today. She gained her Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) through Toi Ohomai in 2020 and joined the BestStart whanau in 2021. Sarah is passionate about the great outdoors and enjoys loose parts and messy play.
