Kia ora, I am Kamaljit Kaur, from Kolkata, India. I have been here in New Zealand for 7 years now. I live here with my husband and our son. I became a part of BestStart Ngatai Road in March 2023, before this I worked as an ECE reliever, and I loved it! I also worked in the hospitality sector.  I have gained a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management. And currently studying towards a Degree in Early Childhood Education. I love to engage with children and spend quality time with them and I love to interact with everyone. I aim to give a diverse range of learning experiences through engagement and developing skills. I love to give them opportunity to develop creative thinking and create independent learners.

Hi, my name is Pam Southworth, and I am the centre cook. I started in March 2023 and previously I was at the MacDonald Street Centre for nearly 3 years. I like cooking for the children and seeing them enjoy eating the food I make. I also like it when they come and chat with me over the kitchen door! I have two very grown-up children and am Nan to 3 grandchildren. Anytime spent with them is very precious, especially as two of them don't live close by. I paint rocks to hide, run a couple of times a week, and like hanging out with my husband.

Kia ora, My name is Lily Chen, and I come from China, along with my husband and our twelve-year-old daughter. I have been working at BestStart since August of last year, and it has been an incredible opportunity for me to grow both personally and professionally. I completed my master's degree at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology. Throughout my career, I have developed a strong passion for working with children and helping them reach their full potential. I am dedicated to providing quality education and care to young children. I firmly believe that early childhood is a crucial time for children's development, and I strive to create a nurturing and stimulating environment for them to learn and grow. Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, exploring new places, and immersing myself in different cultures. I believe that exposure to diverse experiences broadens our horizons and enhances our understanding of the world. I am grateful to be a part of BestStart and look forward to collaborating with all of you.

Kia Ora, I'm Cornel (Ellie) Deysel from the Titoki room. I've earned my education degree in South Africa and have been teaching for the past fifteen years. In 2022, my husband and I, along with our 3 beautiful boys, emigrated to New Zealand from South Africa and I started teaching here at BestStart Ngatai Road. I love teaching Kohungahunga- little people, seeing them grow and growing alongside them!
