Infant House started our Kirihimete preparation in November! We wanted our pepi and tamariki to have a calm time creating their gifts for whanau.

This year the gift bags included a bauble, hand and footprint poems and a reindeer. Each tamariki painted their own gift bags to put their items in. We were also gifted tiny gingerbread biscuits for all our tamariki from one of our lovely whanau.

A tradition at BestStart Montessori the Gardens is to give kāri Kirihimete/ Christmas cards to the residents of a local rest home. Infant House tamariki had a lot of fun painting and drawing their kāri, fine tuning their fine motor muscles as they learnt how to control the paint brush or pencil. It was also a wonderful sensory experience as the moved their hands through the paint learning how to manipulate it the way they wanted.

In the week leading up to Kirihimete we have had a teddy bears picnic, water exploration day, gardening, and ice blocks!

We wish you all a Meri Kirihimete me te Tau Hou.
