Messy play with paint!

Who doesn't love getting messy while creating a work of art? Our Tahi children definitely do!

The children had a great time creating a masterpiece together using the paint and number/letter stencils. We rolled out a large piece of paper onto the table, and they all worked together to cover the paper in colour and patterns.

They enjoyed seeing the different letter and number shapes they could make as they made their way around the paper.

Of course, throughout the process, they had to explore the texture of the paint, seeing what it looked, smelt and felt like between their fingers. Some even decided a taste test was in order but realised quickly this was not the tastiest treat!

Throughout this experience, the children have been able to work together to create a picture. They learnt about and further developed their skills in sharing, turn to take and share a space with others. They were able to actively explore the paint using their senses and learn about how the number and letter shapes could be used to create.

Experiences like these encourage our children to get involved and explore with and alongside others developing and extending their skills and becoming more confident in their learning and abilities. This is important for us in tahi because it links to our centre vision of growing confident learners.
