Messy Play with Slime and Gloop
Today we had gloop (corn flour and water with some yellow dye) the children enjoyed making up the gloop and we ended up with two massive groups around the troughs exploring the gloop. What a sensation this was, gloop is an unexplainable texture as it mixes between being solid and runny. We all found this an excellent opportunity to explore science.
The children also helped mix up some slime today (lux flakes and water) this activity was a big hit. The children all jumped straight into this and quickly become super messy. There was lots of laughter and smiles all round.
The children seemed really excited with this opportunity, perhaps as they had helped make the mixture. We will be providing more slime opportunities for them as summer approaches. Slime is a great texture and certainly activates the nose with the nice smell. The children are developing the fine motor skills inside their hands by opening and closing their hands in the slime as well as rubbing it on and off themselves.
They quickly learnt it takes lots of water to wash off but that didn’t seem to bother anyone and the activity turned into water play as well.
