BestStart Te Atatu Road is proud in encouraging and focusing on aspects of what is happening in the wider world such as the Olympics 2021. We displayed flags on the wall of all of the countries that tamariki and whānau are from as an interactive experience. This gives tamariki an opportunity to explore the flags in their play, which supports development of their social and early literacy skills through learning that symbols have meaning, and playing with their friends.

We set up the environment for the toddlers so they could play a mini-Olympic games, which the children loved to engage in.  In this play, the tamariki are developing gross motor skills, hand eye coordination, taking risks, communication skills, social interactions, being able to observe peers and being able to play alongside each other.
