Mānawatia a Matariki!

1

This year BestStart Queenstown celebrated Matariki (Māori New Year) by inviting all our whānau to join us for an evening of shared kai and waiata! Each classroom prepared for the event, learning waiata (songs) and stories, making decorations and helping to chop vegetables for our famous ‘Matariki soup’! The centre was decorated inside and out with twinkling lights and children's artwork, and there was an excited buzz of activity throughout the centre leading up to the evening! The children proudly performed their songs and dances and everyone enjoyed some warming vegetable soup together as they chatted and mingled throughout the centre. This was such a wonderful opportunity for staff and families to catch up with each other, and for our children to share their learning with their families. These centre events really are so special and we value the opportunity to spend time together and strengthening our relationships with each other and our community. We have so many families who come to Queenstown from all around the world and the relationships that we make with each other here are such a fundamental part of our centre ethos and philosophy. We invite you to visit our centre to experience these special relationships, participate in our centre events and join our wonderful BestStart Queenstown family!
