We have kick-started 2020 off nicely and all our tamariki are settling back in very confidently. We have come back to warmer weather, flourishing vegetable gardens and positive attitudes. We have been focusing on mindfulness in our classroom and being in control of our emotions. We have incorporated this into our Montessori curriculum of wellbeing by doing yoga sessions after lunch to calm down our bodies before the tamariki settle into the afternoon session. This has been a great experience for the children and we have them engaged, trying new poses and talking through how they feel and what emotions they are experiencing.

It is monarch butterfly season and we have set out new work in our botany area and are learning about the life cycle of the monarch butterfly. There is a range of learning areas for the children such as factual books, process learning from a caterpillar to a butterfly and miniature ornaments for the children to get a closer look at. Hopefully we will be able to see some butterflies in our outdoor environment as the weather gets warmer.
