October was the month full of celebrations. This month we celebrated varies cultures and got to experience the beauty in all.

The first week of returning to daycare after level's decreased, we celebrated the beautiful Chinese culture. We practiced saying words, numbers and also tried writing them on sand trays. We made lanterns which we hung around the room and also played their beautiful music.

The following week we celebrated the beautiful paradise island Fiji. We practiced phrases and words with each other and the children and also did some lovely tapa cloth art. We built a mini Bure which is the Fijian word for wood-and-straw hut, similar to a cabin. To create the Bure we gathared resources from around then centre and built it together. On the last day of the week we dressed up in our Fijian clothing and bought in extra clothes for the children to try on.

Our final week of celebrations was Niue Language week. We created some Tapa cloths using Niue patterns and designs, and dyed it with some beautiful colours. We played Niue music and danced together to celebrate another beautiful culture.

Traditionally we would invite parents and whanau and have a celebration together but due to covid and being in level 3 we were abit restricted but still continued the celebration with children.
