Months of celebration and learning
ANZAC
What is happening within our community?
Our tamariki have noticed ANZAC poppies around the community, in shops and poppies on kaiako work shirts. Our tamariki have shown a great interest in carpentry and mahi toi- art. Kaiako has supported their interests by planning an ANZAC project. Look at the amazing poppies and crosses created through their interests. Ka rawe e hoa ma.
Te Tau hou o te iwi Maori
Happy Maori New Year.
We celebrated our first whanau event in our new kindy, acknowledging Matariki.
We celebrated Hiwa-I-te-Rangi star which signifies 'Promise of a prosperous season.'
So we took this opportunity to have a korero with our whanau to hear their dreams and aspirations for their tamiti- child, tamariki-children's here at kindy, and kaiako will endeavour to support their child.
Mother's Day
Our mother's are certainly the heart of the home, and our tamariki were able to gather some goodies for their mummies to relax and have a cuppa tea.
Matua Kyu took some tamariki out into the community to gather some feijoas to make some jam. We were so grateful. We hope all our mother's felt super special!
What can we grow in our Garden?
We value independence, and we support and guide our tamariki independence by exposing them to loads of opportunities. This term, they were able to be a part of our gardening. They learned the process through tilling, digging a hole, transferring dirt/plants, watering and placing stakes to hold our veggies and herbs up. What an empowering experience to be able to see tamariki take charge and lead in this learning experience.
