We celebrated Mother's Day at our early learning centre with love, creativity, and meaningful learning experiences that placed tamariki at the heart of the day. The focus was on helping children express their appreciation for the special women in their lives through hands-on activities and thoughtful gestures.

Our tamariki took part in a range of experiences designed to celebrate and pamper their mums. In the kitchen, the children baked delicious blueberry muffins together. This cooking activity supported early mathematical learning through measuring, following multi-step instructions, working as a team, and developing fine motor skills.

Each child also created a beautiful handmade card for their mum, using colour, design, and their own heartfelt words. Creativity was further explored through a special botanical art collage representing the bond between a mother and child.

Tamariki collected dry leaves from the outdoor play area and carefully glued them onto paper to create unique artworks. Using paper as the background, they created silhouettes of a mother holding her child, symbolising love, care, and connection. This activity encouraged tamariki to observe natural textures, practise patience, and reflect on the importance of relationships.

It was wonderful to see tamariki expressing their appreciation through art, baking, and acts of kindness. The day highlighted how small acts of creativity can build confidence, strengthen connections, and foster a sense of community.

Happy Mother's Day to all our amazing mums!
