Our parents and whanau are an essential part of our growth and development. Having that moment to stop and appreciate all that we get is important. During Mother’s Day, it was a time to remind our tamariki how much support we get and to give thanks. To our mothers, it is a time to stop and slow down, not everything needs to be completed in a day, but laughing, smiling, and knowing that you are amazing needs to follow us always! We talked to our tamariki about what they appreciate from their mothers, and how we show thanks. They learn so much about taking care of the ones around us, not just family, but also those that are kind.

After all, it takes kindness to spread kindness, and that is exactly what we strive for as everyday heroes, spreading care and aroha! For our busy mothers, we had a rolling morning tea for them to take treats with a coffee, hoping that we have delighted their morning, and kickstarted a wonderful Friday morning before the weekend. Of course, celebrating our wonderful mothers and whanau do not always need to be on this specific day, but it is helpful to remember to stop and appreciate. When was the last time you thanked your mother for always being there? When was the last time you got a thank you? How sweet is that memory from those times?
