Here in the Matai room we love to dance, and earlier this week Drew bought the speaker outside for us so we could have a good boogie! There were some amazing dance moves as the Tamariki expressed themselves in lots of different ways! Dancing is a great way to express thoughts, feelings and emotions, and links to Te Whariki through the strands Wellbeing, Communication and Exploration.

We also did some Exploration with corn flour slime, this was a great sensory activity where nga tamariki could discover their own ideas of what it could do. It was a great opportunity to develop their fine motor skills, learn with and alongside each other and to independently experiment and use their imaginations.

This links to Te Whāriki through the strand Exploration. Some of the other ways nga tamariki explored while moving their bodies was to beginning to develop confidence while walking with a trolley, some of our pepi really enjoyed exploring the sand in the sandpit with their hands and feet and others discovered ways to communicate with their friends in the room next door through the fence! It has been a great week.
