Mount Hobson is at the heart of our local curriculum here at BestStart Dilworth Avenue. Standing proudly over our wider community, it serves as an important connection point for our people, places, and things.
We encourage regular excursions to the maunga to experience our wind goddess, Oniwhero, in action as she watches over our community.
Our Morepork tamariki recently enjoyed their first excursion of the year, setting off on an adventure to the top of Mount Hobson. With determination and excitement, the children worked together and proudly made it all the way to the summit. It was inspiring to see their resilience, perseverance, and growing confidence as they navigated the walk.
Along the way, our tamariki showed a deep curiosity and appreciation for the natural environment, taking in the beauty of the maunga and the wider community around them.
Experiences like these are incredibly valuable for children. Excursions support the development of confidence, physical wellbeing, teamwork, and a strong connection with the world around them. Exploring our local environment helps foster a sense of belonging and respect for nature.
A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful parents and whānau for your ongoing support. Your involvement helps make these meaningful experiences possible for our tamariki.
