Native birds, insects and plants
During the month of September, the Ponga room at BestStart Pyes Pa has had a focus around Native birds, insects and plants. As part of our centre priorities we believe that it is really important that our tamariki have a better understanding of their world and how to respect it. We supported this growth with a range of experiences and games that got them actively involved and hands on. Bird and insect hunts, matching games, hands on natural resources and books have helped strengthen this for our tamariki.
We have been amazed at the knowledge our tamariki already have about their world and the sharing of information that was had amongst their peers. Our tamariki have displayed incredible acts of kindness within this project, through turn-taking, supporting each other's growth and taking responsibility of the environment by helping kaiako set up and suggesting ideas.
