This month we have been so blessed to welcome not one, but two amazing international teachers into our under 2’s classroom. Both Aileen and Grace have joined our room in the month of June and what a great addition they are! They both have so much to offer, we can't wait to learn more about them both!

This month our tamariki (children) are so settled in their new environment and have gotten used to their new routines. We have established the routine and all children have gathered their sense of belonging comfortably. Kaiako (teachers) have introduced a lot of new toys into the environment as well as books and play equipment, tamariki (children) have adapted well to this. As our learning focus for the month, we are learning about the solar system.

For the first week of July, we learned about The Planet Earth. (Tamariki) children did sensory activities, art, and many more activities. In week 2 we focused on Matariki/ stars due to Matariki being in this week. For this, we did paint and sticking activities, focusing on fine motor skills. Kaiako (teachers) created tamariki (children) in a tunnel with fairy lights and glow-in-the-dark stars, giving them the true matariki experience. Tamariki (children) also created stars with clay that they hand painted to take home, this was very fun, parents love to see something go home. Ka Pai Tamariki!!
