No day is ever the same!
What a wonderful month we all had!! With the celebration of different cultures and events, we did a lot of arts and crafts in our centre. Children painted paper eggs with collage and footprint carrots and constructed an Easter bunny banner out of paper and cotton wool. We built small baskets to hold the chocolate eggs we would take home.
We also dressed up for Baisakhi and Anzac Day and participated in various arts and crafts activities, such as building wreaths and designing poppy flowers. We participated in a bike race in our centre to further our tamariki's interest in transportation. In addition, children loved outside to play and explore natural resources such as water and sand.
While being inclusive this month, our children have stepped forward towards their Holistic Development – Kotahitanga. As Te Whāriki also places children at the centre of an inclusive, comprehensive curriculum that gives all tamariki equal chances and access. All children have the opportunity to study together in an early learning setting if the curriculum recognises and celebrates diversity. This is how tuakana teina relationships are formed, improving positive communication and relationships. Here at BestStart Kenderdine, celebrating different cultures together makes us feel that though we are different tree branches, our roots remain as one.
Happy Easter to all whanau!
