Nurture the seed to blossom
Here at BestStart Remuera Road, this November, nga tamariki have engaged in array of activities together with their kaiako. To start with, they have had great fun making resources and doing some wonderful learning experiences for Diwali. The Tamariki enjoyed making lanterns, hena tattoos, rangoli and painting pictures that look like fireworks while being taught what Diwali means and why as a centre we respect and engage in the wonderfulness of the celebration.
This November, we have also tried to give our front garden a revamp. Kea and Tui rooms have started vegetable patches in our outdoor area, they worked together to get the soil ready with the support of their kaiako. Once the soil was already, they brought the saplings into their new home.
As a centre we want to make connections to Papatūānuku by providing an environment where the tamariki can explore the wider world. Through gardening we are able to offer experiences where tamariki can care for the living world and make connections of where food comes from.
