NZSL week
NZSL week was celebrated nationally this month.
In our class we have always used NZSL when we do our karakia kai but this was a chance for us to learn and use more sign on a daily basis and embed it in our programme. We had name tags made using fingerspelling and we all learnt to sign the first letter of our names. We have also learnt to use signs for aspects of our grace and courtesy (signing please and thank you) and how to ask for certain foods.
We are excited to continue growing our sign language 'vocabulary' as we start learning signs for colours.
