Olympics have been in full force at Mount Community Kindy over the past few weeks. We have done all the imaginable sports the teachers could creatively think of!

Individual sports included discus, gymnastics, sprints, canoe slalom, sailing, golf, hurdles, cycling, archery, Team sports included football, rugby, tennis, hockey, table tennis, basketball and so much more! The NZ national anthem was sung and medal ceremonies were celebrated. Parents were kept informed through Storypark with regular Olympic updates and children too shared all the day had entailed with their families at home.

This is just one of the many ways the wider world of family and community is an integral part of our early childhood curriculum. At Mount Community Kindy we value and build on the knowledge and experiences that children bring with them to the setting. Making links to children’s everyday experiences and to special events celebrated by families, Whanau, and local and cultural communities.
