Last week we decided to sit down in the afternoon and came up with a recipe for a tasty keke/cake. Once we talked about the measurements and what order to put them in the kumete/bowl we decided that it would also be fun to make a recipe for an omelette.

We talked about how the keke uses sweet kinaki/ingredients and the omelette would require savoury ingredients. We thought really hard about what savoury meant, was it fruit, bacon, salt? We talked about the sweet tasting things in the keke and decided that those wouldn't go well in the omelette. We talked about bacon, salt and pepper, eggs and a variety of other tasty things.

We checked the cupboards to make sure we had all of the kinaki. Unfortunately we didn't have any mÄ«ti/meat to add but we picked out some of the fresh vegetables from the fridge. The tamariki helped to chop them into small bits and then add them into the
kumete. We added the eggs and then stirred them all together. What wonderful helpers we have here at kindy!

Then we heated the frying pan and slowly added the egg mixture in. Stacey came over and helped teach us how to pull the edged into the middle, making it easier to flip later on down the track. Thanks Stacey!

Once it was all cooked we went and horoi o koutou ringa/washed our hands before sitting down to eat. It must have been delicious as it was gone very quickly. Thanks for the help. I wonder what we could make next time.
