April at Tauranga Central Early Childhood Centre April has been a special month at Tauranga Central Early Childhood Centre as we explored the meaning and significance of ANZAC Day together.
Through a range of age-appropriate experiences, our tamariki learned about this important day of national observance.
We carefully introduced the concepts of remembrance, bravery, and service in ways that were meaningful and accessible for young children. Throughout the month, children enjoyed creating beautiful poppy artwork, drawing soldiers, baking delicious ANZAC biscuits, reading the much-loved story Anzac Ted, and proudly singing the New Zealand National Anthem together.
A particular highlight was a special visit during hui time from (Captain) Bob the Teddy Bear, who arrived dressed in his soldier’s uniform and helped spark many thoughtful conversations and questions. These experiences supported our tamariki to learn about New Zealand’s history, traditions, and the importance of remembering those who served our country.
Kei wareware taatou. We warmly welcome families to visit our centre and take a look at the wonderful learning, creativity, and conversations happening every day. We are incredibly proud of all that our tamariki continue to discover, explore, and achieve.
