Our Nga Tipu room have been reviewing our 16 areas of play, our first area has been our science and nature area. We have created a he māra kai – (the food garden), our tamariki have been loving engaging with this and even enjoyed supporting kaiako to build this garden. Through this experience we have had had many conversations about our garden and how we need to care for it, we water and nurture our garden to ensure it grows big and healthy. Our tamariki love watering the garden and tasting and smelling the lovely herbs we have growing.

We have also been enjoying lots of art / painting with different utensils and even our babies had a go at exploring paint with their whole bodies.  Allowing our tamariki to explore painting through each of their senses at their own pace is inviting them to make sense of the world around them. As Kaiako engage and talk to them about their experiences they are also learning social skills and developing oral language.
