The carpentry area is one of our tamariki’s favourites. They enjoy spending time here, learning about the process of design, creation, and the final product. The children learn that they first plan for what they would like to build, draw pictures of their plan and then they plan what materials and resources they will need to get the final product they are aiming for.

They also learn about safety and how to use the tools in a way that ensures their own and their friends’ safety. They learn that they need to wear protective gear (helmet, shoes and glasses) and also how to safely hold the tools, so they have a control over them.

In the carpentry area, children also learn how to concentrate well and fully focus on their task and also, they develop their eye-hand coordination and their fine and gross motor skills.
