In the Pukeko room (2-3 year olds) we place huge importance on growing confidence and independent tamariki. We are always focusing on developing self-help skills and a 'give it a go' attitude. At kai time tamariki serve their own food and pour their water, which they drink in a glass. It does take a bit of practice and encouragement however the end result is well worth the effort as we see the mana grow within our tamariki. Toddlers thrive on new challenges and the sense of achievement they gain when they master a new skill. Because of this we encourage tamariki to dress themselves and take responsibility for their belongings.  Well done to all our very capable and competent two years olds.

"It is not what you do for children, but what you have taught them to do for themselves, that will make them successful human beings."
