Over several weeks the tamariki prepared for our drive in movie as part of our ‘The Arts’ group learning. Together the children painted many large boxes and painted the wheels to glue on to create our cars.  

We chose the movie ‘Shrek’ as it had music and characters that the children could identify from the books that they enjoy listening to and often love to dress up as.  

We enjoyed a treat while we watched the movie and took turns to sit in our ‘cars’.  We have looked after these boxes and used them to sit and read in as well as many different imaginary play experiences. 

Nga tamariki enjoyed this experience so much that we are now planning a Christmas movie before we head away for our holidays.
