This is the second week since the opening of our new centre and we have noticed our children's favourite place of play has been the kitchen. Today we decided to extend the learning by baking Muffins for morning tea.

The children were all excited to explore the hands-on experience of baking. They helped in measuring, scooping, pouring, and mixing the ingredients. Children got to engage and learn with and alongside their peers and teachers.

What a great way to build relationship with each other at the table.  Our Tamariki were great with following simple instructions and turn taking. The older children supported our younger ones during the activity. Everyone enjoyed baking and most of all loved eating what they had baked.

During the activity, our children learnt about early science concepts, early literacy learning, sensory exploration, being creative and expressive, self-help skills and linking their worlds between centre and home.

We cannot wait to see what's on the menu for our next cooking class.
