Our focus on grace and courtesy
Our classroom has been focusing on Grace and Courtesy lately. We have been role modeling to our tamariki how a certain behaviour or activity is done. For example
- How to greet one another
- How to respect each other’s space and how to get attention without interrupting
- How to walk carefully around the classroom
- How to follow directions
- How to use polite words: Please, thank you, excuse me, etc.
- How to speak in a polite tone
- How to Walk around the work mat and people
- How to look after our environment and friends
- And a lot more..!
Our tamariki have been awesome learning these skills and using Grace and Courtesy during their daily life. They have been respecting their friends more during the Montessori work time and finding their own activities to work on. The other day one child gently asked her friend, “Can I watch you doing that activity?” What beautiful manners we are learning!
