Our Fun Times Holiday Programme
During the school holidays BestStart Halswell Junction have a programme called “Fun Times”. So often the preschool children have older siblings that go to special activities or holiday programmes and this can make the younger sibling feel like they are missing out – well not when they come to Halswell Junction – every day is one cool theme after another.
Bubble day was our opening event and it was a huge hit!
We had so much fun discovering bubbles, how they form, how they pop and what they are made of. We started by making bubbly water - the reactions were hilarious to say the least! Then we decided to flavour the water with lemon! Some children were brave enough to taste the lemon! Outside we filled the troughs with bubbles made from dish liquid - that was exciting as we could pick them up without them popping and were even able to paint and write with the bubbles! At rest time we made our own bubble wands and bubble mixture - it was fun figuring out how much water vs dish liquid we needed to get the perfect bubble - then we had to learn to blow the bubble out but be gentle at the same time - it was very tricky! The teachers showed us how to make bubbles with soap on our hands - they were really good at it and everyone wanted to make huge bubbles like that!!
