Our Graduation Celebrations!

BestStart Hei Hei practice graduations from one room to the next.

We have recently farewelled two tamariki from the Kea room to the Kakapo room by holding a ceremony at morning mat-time.

Children are involved in gathering up their planning display, their locker label, special achievement journal and their bag. We have a special chair for them to sit on, and they are very proud to wear the graduation cloak- korowai, which is worn as a mantle of prestige and honour.

A Maori cloak is most commonly worn on a special occasion or significant graduation. Parents and Whanau are invited to these graduations, particularly when children are leaving the centre to start Primary School.
