Our Gruffalo's Cave
Last week Katie challenged us to decorate our door with our favourite story book! The Mako team had a class hui (meeting) to vote on our favourite book, thus, the Gruffalo was chosen.
Kaiako (teacher) Adam and the Mako tamariki (children) used the measuring tape to measure the size of the door. The Mako tamariki helped to cut the paper to fit the door.
Kaiako Adam and the Mako tamariki worked together to colour in their favourite story characters!
Then the Mako team had another class hui as it was time to reconstruct the Mako cave. They decided to turn it into a Grufallo cave! They listed lots of ideas and took concepts from the story to put in our Grufallo Cave including a log pile house, a tree top house and an underground house!
The Mako tamariki helped Kaiako Mari clean the rocket ship off the mirror in preparation for our Gruffalo Cave.
Kaiako Janette and the Mako tamariki started to prepare some items to create the log pile house.
Kaiako Mari and the Mako tamariki put up the sign for the Gruffalo Cave. They practiced how to sign all the letters of Gruffalo in New Zealand Sign Language.
Kaiako Janette and the Mako tamariki searched the words in te reo Maori for the animals in the Gruffalo story. They are learning to say them in te reo! Little mouse - kiore iti! Owl - ruru! Snake - nakahi!
It's still a work in progress but have a look at the photos of the creation of our Graffalo's cave so far!
