The Holi Festival of colours in India is a celebration of the victory of good over evil, the destruction of the demoness Holika. As this big festival was approaching, we shared the traditional Holi stories with our children to help them to develop a better understanding of the meaning of Holi and Indian culture.

Our children have shown a big interest in them. We overheard them discuss each other regarding the story of Holi during their play. That was amazing! On the Holi celebration day, we started our celebration by discussing the colour of each power and then choosing our favourite coloured power as learning the name of colours is always a significant part of our early literacy learning. Once the discussion was done, it was time for all of us to rock n roll!

We were talking, laughing, running around and throwing the coloured power at each other, then we were splashing water and shooting water at each other with water shooting foams... It was just hilarious! We all have had tremendous fun with these colours and water play. Food of course can't be absent in such a big event at Jones kindy, look at our children, they all sat so... nicely and enjoyed the traditional Indian food that our teachers prepared! We start to look forward Holi celebration next year now!
