After months of watching the cabbage and spinach grow in our garden our Infants helped their teachers to harvest the vegetables that they had planted. Our little pepes helped their teachers to make the delicious soup for lunch.

Nga Tamariki got to use their plastic knives to cut the vegetables and put them into the pot. The teachers explained the steps of making soup and the children were very involved with the whole process with the close support of the teachers.

Finally, and very carefully we added the water. Tino pai to mahi Tamariki. What great teamwork you all demonstrated. After that the children helped the teachers to deliver the pot to our Centre cook for cooking.

The Infants were anxious to taste the soup. They all enjoyed the soup for their lunch. This activity was a great way to introduce and explore food. The children learnt following simple instructions, developing, and understanding of healthy foods and how good changes when cooked.
