Our latest preschool graduates
In the weeks leading up to our tamariki’s graduation, our tamariki are able to choose the dress-up theme for their special day.
Invitations are sent out to the whanau to join in their child’s special day. On the day tamariki are able to choose which Korowai they want to wear and the other tamariki participating in graduation are dressed in Maori costumes.
Once the family arrives everyone enters the tui room for the celebration to begin – everyone stands and sings the New Zealand national anthem, and the tamariki then perform a poi song.
The child is then presented with a certificate of graduation and is invited to place their graduation photo on our latest graduate wall. Our tamariki then sing our centre goodbye song and the graduate walks around the circle hugging or high-fiving their peers.
Next is the presentation of their gift bag that contains their portfolio, art book, and a small gift from the center. It is then time for photos – the graduate has photos with their friends, whanau, and Kaiako this is turned into a short video of their journey at BestStart Hillcrest and sent to whanau.
We then have a wonderful shared afternoon tea with the graduate's whanau and friends.
